Each
year, Mason Community Players honors a number of members for their
dedication and community spirit. These members are honored at the
group's annual banquet. The 2021 Banquet was celebrated as a Virtual Awards Ceremony on January 9th.
Some
of the awards are humorous; some are in appreciation for service during
the year and some are to honor the continued and dedicated service of
many years. All are given in a spirit of gratitude for the members who
give so much of their time, their talent, their skill and their
knowledge to make MCP a success. Listed below are the individuals who
were recognized for their "contributions" in 2020.
Honored this year:
Bloody Smurfs (drawing blood in the service of MCP)
Pat Germano ... cut himself with a circular saw in the construction of The Importance of Being Earnest
Mary Stan Fizer ... fell up the stairs to the stage while carrying a chair, tripped and fell scraping her knee during set up for The Importance of Being Earnest
Brandon Blair ... scraped his finger while constructing the open walls on the set of The Importance of Being Earnest
Jess Bunn ...bent her pinky finger back until it bled as she wheeled around the tech shelf grabbing things for The Importance of Being Earnest
Abby Farmer ... Wrynn Olszewski drilled into her finger when they were building the back wall of the set of The Importance of Being Earnest
Eric Grimm ... during the exit from Theatre 42, while loading stage platforms into the container, his hand found a screw sticking out of the bottom and his hand was impaled on said screw. He bled.
Eric Grimm ... during the exit from Theatre 42, while moving flats, his hand got stuck between a stack of flats and doors. He bled.
Eric Grimm ... during the exit from Theatre 42, while loading the container (again), he fell a number of times getting multiple scrapes on his legs and knees, which, of course, bled.
MO-Trin Awards (harming one's self in the service of MCP without loss of blood)
Missy Gary ... caught her pinky finger in the door of her car while on the way to rehearsal for The Importance of Being Earnest
Gaylene May Schumacher ... during The Importance of Being Earnest, she was cleaning and cleaning the rugs in the lobby to get ready for the show, she vacuumed so hard that she got two huge blisters, both of which popped causing great pain
Gaylene May Schumacher ... during the exit from Theatre 42, whacked herself with a ladder
Eric Grimm ... during the exit from Theatre 42, fell down the stairs from the props loft to the main floor carrying furniture and receiving many bumps and bruises
Mary Stan Fizer ... accepting on behalf of the piece of furniture which Eric used to break his fall and was so damaged that it needed to be burned on the next bonfire
The Ultimate Mo-Trin
Amy Sullivan ... during curtain call for The Importance of Being Earnest, she fell from the low rise to the stage floor, breaking the ball at the top of the humerus and shattering her wrist. This as also been dubbed the 991 Mo-Trin Award!
Honorary packets of Mo-Trin were given to most of the winners, but she does not think she has enough Mo-Trin to supply to Amy and she will just have to make do with a bottle of Mo-Trin.
