An adaptation of the famous poem by Edgar Allan Poe
by Lara Gonzalez and Julie Poux ...
Hear conversations
with the belles-
MCP belles!
What a world of trouble their melody foretells!
How they ring, ring, ring,
In the stormy air of night!
While the clouds overtake
All
decisions that they make
With
sarcastic delight;
As they chat, chat, chat,
Through sisterly combat
To the tintinnabulation that so musically wells
From the belles, belles, belles, belles,
Belles, belles, belles-
From the ringing and the stinging of the belles.
Don't miss the "ringing of the belles"!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY...
Sara Davis (Sat/Mar. 12)
Isabella Lisa (Sat/Mar. 12)
Tom David (Sun/Mar. 13)
Do you have a birthday this week and you are not listed here? Don't let that keep happening! (Unless you don't like celebrating birthdays.) E-mail us at newsletter@masonplayers.org and let us know.
This past Wednesday we received a Temporary Certificate of Use and Occupancy for the Mason Playhouse. We have that occupancy through March 15th. This allows us to have audience present for Belles, and then we can return to continuing tasks in the venue. MCP will need to have the final inspection completed and occupancy permits in place before the opening of You Have the Right to Remain Dead in May. When the Renovation Committee convenes on March 12, the members will review the remaining punch list, schedule target dates for the completion of those items, and assign resources for their completion. Based on that timeline, a target date for the final inspection on Phase One will be determined.
Though there has essentially been a break in renovation work sessions, the work will begin once again after the close of Belles, which occurs Saturday night. Please keep Saturdays from 10am to 4pm and Sundays from 11am to 3pm on your calendars as potential Renovation Days. And if you have daytime hours during the week, especially on Wednesdays and Fridays, please contact Laureen Catlin. The project to inventory props and costumes and give them a permanent place to live will begin soon. If that sounds like work more suited to your volunteerism, we welcome the help. The team is developing a very specific process that will require many hours of help. Many hands do make the work lighter.
The Finance Committee is seeking 2-3 people to serve on a new subcommittee dedicated to obtaining and maintaining season and show sponsors and program advertisers. Duties would include reviewing and revising sponsorship and ad rates annually (to be approved by the Board), contacting current sponsors and advertisers to renew seasonally, and seeking out new sponsors and advertisers. Although a large part of the work would occur in the Fall in preparation for the 2023 season, there would be some tasks throughout the year. Please contact Susan Berger, treasurer@masonplayers.org, if interested in serving.
MCP's book club, PlayBook, will be held virtually on Thursday, March 24th at 7:30 PM. The change from Wednesday was due to many conflicts. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun. This month, the chosen book is Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. You probably know for what show that is the source material! Even if you do not get the chance to acquire and read the book, you can always participate in a discussion of the musical, Cats! If you would like to participate, please send an e-mail to bookclub@masonplayers.org, so that Coordinator Tess Catlin can make sure that you have all the details. She can also answer any questions you may have.
Emily Meinerding McLean
underwent lengthy surgery on 2/25/22. The doctors were pleased with the results, and there is much to be grateful for. She still has much recovery ahead. Keep thoughts and prayers coming.
John Masterson
is walking again with a back brace that he will have for many weeks. He is glad to be mobile again. Don't stop the good thoughts and prayers.
Mary Taylor is asking for prayers and good thoughts for her son-in-law, who is facing a serious illness.
Kim Toft is mourning the death of her father who passed away on Friday, February 25th. Show her that special MCP caring when you see her next.
If you are interested in being a part of the Celebration of Life for Mickey Samons that is described below, please follow the instructions regarding an RSVP in the invitation. Attempting to send an "MCP RSVP" would be much too complicated. Please note the request to reply before March 15th.
Thank You to those who helped with renovation at the Playhouse yesterday and today ...
Most of the attention was on preparing for Belles this week. But we do need to shout a "thank you" to Lara Gonzalez and Larry Hirth who were taking care of some punch list items over the course of the week.
Also, a little shout out to the Paint Team ... We changed last week to a paint touch-up and clean team to help prepare for the show:
Laureen Catlin, Mary Stan Fizer, Becca McLaughlin, and Gaylene Schumacher took care of some more cleaning and organizing
And, we cannot forget those who helped distribute door hangers:
Felicity Catlin
Laureen Catlin
Tess Catlin
Mary Stan Fizer
Mo Rettig
Gaylene Schumacher

Well, who even knew of the existence of a Liaison Committee. When you consider a group of individuals whose work for MCP is rather "hidden", this committee would win the prize. The Liaison Committee has the directive to represent the group to the larger community when necessary.
Currently, the committee has three members - Chair Gail Rudolph, Laureen Catlin, and Joel Lind. There was a great deal more call for their involvement in the past when MCP was performing in the schools or doing events with the City of Mason. During MCP's years in Theatre 42, there was much less involvement with the City and the school system, because we were just outside the city limits and , with our own space, had no need to schedule time in the schools. With our move to the Playhouse, we are now in the city limits and a part of the Mason business community.
Gail has begun the process of becoming a member of the Chamber of Commerce. Laureen continues her association with the Mason School's Scheduling Department, who wish to be able to help commmunity organizations find space, if the school district cannot provide it.
The ACT Cincinnati Rep and the Ohio Community Theatre Rep sit on the committee and the group discusses any issues before MCP that are relevant to our membership in these organizations. For many years now, our Rep for both groups was Joel Lind. Joel has new employment that precludes his remaining in that role, but he will continue on the committee and will help with some aspects of ACT/OCTA. Gail Rudolph has taken on the role of ACT/OCTA Rep.
As the renovation of the Playhouse has developed, Lara Gonzalez has become a de facto member of the committee, as she has represented MCP to the City regarding code regulations, inspections, and occupancy of the building.
The Liaison Committee does not meet on a regular basis. The Board President will call upon the members to gather and discuss any issues that may arise under their purview. The members report to the Board ... the ACT/OCTA Rep regularly and the others as the need arises.
This committee stands to become more active due to the new venue. If you have an interest in serving on the Liaison Committee, please reach out to a member and let them know!
This newsletter will be sent to you each Sunday evening. It is the hope of the leadership of MCP that this will be an easy communication for you to refer to throughout that week and that you will not have as many messages from the group in your inbox over the course of the week. You can always reach out to us at any time with suggestions.
